Kitten Adoption Information

What to know before you reserve a KFBear Ragdoll or Purricurls American Curl kitten: how reserving works, what comes home with your kitten, and how to prepare.

To our adopters

Before you adopt

We recommend joining our VIP Waitlist by submitting an Adoption Application. This allows you to get pre-approved and enjoy priority access to reserve kittens before they are available to the public.

01.

Ask Questions

We understand it is a big decision when it comes to adopting a new fur-baby, so we encourage adopters take a thorough read-through of our website (specifically this page), and ask as many questions as possible throughout the adoption process. Feel free to contact us via email or direct messages on social media.

Please read the Adoption FAQs section (scroll to the bottom of this page) for some commonly asked questions.

02.

Reputable Breeder

If by all means possible, choose to only work with reputable breeders who invest time, money and effort into showing their cats, and breed to better the breed instead of purely producing subpar kittens for cash. It takes YEARS of practical showing experience for breeders to have a good grasp of the breed standard. It doesn’t simply come with merely memorization or direct quoting from the standard. Health and socialization are fundamental requirements. What sets breeders apart is the quality of their cats. When spending a good fortune on cats, make sure the cat/kitten you received is closely aligned with the breed standard, in terms of both type & temperament.

03.

Beware of Scammers

Make sure the breeder you work with is a real person with real cats. Often times scammers will steal pictures from other breeders. Feel free to ask us for proof.

Waitlist

Priority Waitlist
Our waitlist works on a first come first serve basis. The order to reserve kittens goes by the order of deposit received.

As our kittens go fast, kittens are often reserved by adopters on our waitlist before they are made available to the public. Don’t wait until your favorite baby is gone!

Non-Refundable Waitlist Fee: $300 (credit towards kitten adoption fee)

Step 03

Kittens born

0 – 2 months

During this stage, our focus is on raising healthy, well-socialized kittens and making sure each one thrives.

Kitten updates will be shared on social media at approximately 2 months old.

Please note that not all kittens will eventually become available. The paid waitlist fee secures a spot for you on our waitlist to select kitten(s) when they become available. A kitten will be officially reserved by an adopter only when a reservation fee is received. Reservation of specific kitten will happen in Step 4.

Step 04

Kitten reservation

2 – 3 months

1st to Reserve – Priority Waitlist
The order goes by the order deposit received in Step 2. If you do not find your loved kitten, your position on waitlist will remain for future litters.

2nd to Reserve – Public
Any remaining available kittens will be shown on our website / social media marked as “Available / Looking for New Home”, and open to the public for reservation.

To Reserve a Kitten
Sign our Kitten Contract and submit the reservation fee. Reservation Fee: $600. Reservation fee is non-refundable, but is credited towards the kitten adoption fee.

Step 05

Kitten going home

3+ months

Immediately after kitten reservation, we will decide the pick-up method.

Preparation list will be shared with adopters. Please check Cats.com for item recommendation.

After kitten’s spay/neuter surgery, we will schedule a pick up date/time.

Remaining balance (i.e., Kitten Adoption Fee – Deposit Paid) will be due 72 hours before the kitten goes home or is delivered. Adopters can opt to pay cash when picking up kitten in person. Please notify us if you prefer cash payment.

Adoption FAQs

Common questions

For the sake of the well-being and safety of our cats, we are a closed cattery, meaning we do not allow visitors at any time. This policy helps minimize the risk of introducing viruses, germs, bacteria, and parasites into our cattery, especially to our most vulnerable young kittens. If one gets an infection, we need to treat ALL of them, and it will be a big cost and disaster for us.

You are more than welcome to meet us and some of our cats at cat shows, or we can arrange a FaceTime call.

No. All our pet or show/alter quality kittens sold without breeding rights MUST be spayed/neutered prior to going home.
NO EXCEPTIONS!

Short answer: No. Unfortunately, not all Ragdolls are bred the same. We have first-hand experience of early-retiring breeding cats that cost us a fortune to bring in, before ever breeding them, because of their poor temperament, to avoid producing aggressive or less “Ragdoll-like” offspring. While upbringing and socialization are crucial to a kitten’s temperament, genetics actually play a much bigger role. Kittens often inherit their temperament from their parents, so ideally, if at least one of the parents has the carefree personality, it will most likely pass on to their kittens, which makes them better pets.

Beauty in a Ragdoll is about far more than perfect markings. To us, a truly beautiful Ragdoll has correct, balanced structure and proportions that reflect the breed standard and create the distinctive Ragdoll look.

Every kitten is carefully evaluated for type and temperament in accordance with the TICA/CFA Ragdoll and American Curl Breed Standards. While all properly registered Ragdolls (blue-eyed and pointed) and American Curls may be eligible to compete for championship titles, we classify our kittens based on their overall quality and potential to succeed in the show ring.

We make no compromises when it comes to health, and make every effort to perform various preventive and diagnostic measures on our cats and kittens to ensure they are in their best health. All breeding cats are DNA tested for 49 genetic mutations / diseases (including breed-specific diseases, such as HCM-RD & PKD) through Optimal Selection prior to joining our breeding program.

Authentic Ragdolls have semi-long fur with the signature silky coat texture that is low maintenance. They do shed, especially during the change of seasons, and they are NOT hypoallergenic.

It’s a common myth that male cats are more outgoing while females are more laid-back. Our experience has shown otherwise! Once spayed or neutered, males and females often have more similarities in behavior, as their behaviors are less influenced by sex hormones. Ultimately, we believe personality varies from one cat to another rather than being determined by gender alone. Every cat has its own unique character, and we encourage families to choose a kitten based on individual temperament rather than sex.

In recent years, the term “PG” (ES*Patriarca Gucci) has become one of the most controversial topics in the Ragdoll world. Many breeders and pet owners have heard warnings that PG lines are linked to dwarfism in Ragdoll cats.

Yes, we offer a $50 military discount, but you need to send us proof.

Unfortunately, we don’t offer free local delivery. You can either come to pick up your kitten or pay for delivery ($50 to $150 for NJ and NYC). A flight nanny is around $775 and up.
